An American guy shared an unusual experience he went through on the Reddit platform. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, he accidentally "stepped into" a family related to China's last emperor Pu Yi. It all began when he married a Chinese student girl studying medicine in America.
A few days before the wedding, it was revealed that the bride's maternal grandmother was the younger sister of the last emperor Pu Yi. According to the guy, he knew nothing about the girl's family history before the engagement.
They have known each other since the 2000s, and the girl spoke without an accent and talked simply about her family. According to the girl, her mother was a professor, and her father was the head of a large corporation in Shanghai.
However, she never openly spoke about the family's deep history. Yet belonging to this royal lineage brought no material benefits to the girl.
On the contrary, in the 1970s her father lived in poverty. The bride's family preserved several items as historical heritage: documents confirming the lineage, a jade tumor kept through smuggling, a rehabilitation document from the PRC government, family calligraphy brushes, and a palace-style cooking book.
The girl said she grew up in an environment where boasting about her lineage was forbidden. Currently, the couple lives in New York City and is raising three children.
The American groom calls this situation "one of the most unexpected twists in life"
