Important talks were held in Berlin with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other international political representatives participating. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The issue of stopping the military actions initiated by Russia was discussed. During the talks, significant results were achieved, according to US President's special envoy Stephen Biegun.
According to Biegun, consultations between the US and Ukrainian delegations on a ceasefire lasted more than five hours. US presidential advisor Jared Kushner also took part in the negotiations.
The parties discussed a 20-point roadmap to achieve peace, as well as important directions regarding economic issues and security. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also attended the meeting but later left the talks, leaving his representative behind.
Friedrich Merz stated on social media: “We want to ensure a stable and just peace in Ukraine. Although the process is difficult, we are determined to achieve it.”
The talks are planned to continue on December 15. According to AFP agency, in the evening, leaders of European countries, as well as representatives of the European Union and NATO, are expected to join the negotiations.
According to Reuters agency, Zelensky stated in a closed meeting with journalists that he is ready for certain compromises to achieve peace. In particular, Ukraine is considering the possibility of receiving security guarantees from the US and European countries instead of joining NATO.
He also called freezing military actions along the front line a fair solution. The Russian side has previously demanded the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
These talks in Berlin are regarded as an important step aimed at resolving the long-lasting conflicts through political means.
