Japan remains committed to the principle of renouncing nuclear weapons. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Government Chief Secretary Minoru Kihara, the country firmly maintains its position of not developing, possessing, or deploying nuclear weapons on its territory. He stated that Japan, as the only country to have suffered an atomic bombing, strives to strengthen agreements to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons worldwide.
Kihara also emphasized that the government will continue to implement practical measures in this regard. In response to journalists' questions about statements on nuclear weapons made by a representative of the Prime Minister's Office, Kihara said the government considers it inappropriate to comment on individual remarks.
It should be recalled that earlier, the Kyodo news agency reported that Sane Takaichi, a representative of the Prime Minister's Office, expressed in an informal conversation the opinion that Japan needs to possess nuclear weapons. However, the government did not confirm this view and reaffirmed its commitment to its fundamental principles once again.
