In Novi Pazar, located in southwestern Serbia, thousands of students and activists held a protest against pressures occurring in state universities. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This action is part of a nationwide student protest movement initiated by students across the country, and it is the first major student demonstration held in Novi Pazar. The protests are connected to the demonstrations that began after the tragic incident last year in Novi Sad, where a roof collapsed at the railway station, killing 16 people.
At that time, Novi Pazar students attracted nationwide attention by walking several days on foot to participate in the protests held on the anniversary of the incident. The students accuse the university administration of revoking the student status of young people who participated in the protests and dismissing teachers.
According to their information, nearly 200 students have been deprived of their right to study, and more than 30 teachers have been dismissed. The protesters demand the resignation of the administration.
During the protest, participants observed a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives. The students emphasized that this issue is not limited to one city or event but highlights problems within the higher education system throughout the country.
At the same time, officials deny the accusations made by the students.
