The European Union is introducing a new digital system – the Entry/Exit System. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Starting from April 2026, this system will register travelers entering and leaving Europe based on biometric data. This will replace the usual passport stamps with a digital system.
The new system will speed up and simplify the border crossing process. Currently, other countries are also using similar technologies.
For example, Australia, Japan, and Canada use biometric data, and the United States is also planning to implement such a system. This may gradually lead to the disappearance of traditions like collecting passport stamps.
The history of passport stamps goes back a long way. Modern stamps became widespread after World War II and were often valued by travelers as souvenirs.
Many people have kept stamps as memories of the places and countries they have visited. While some travelers regret the loss of stamps with the introduction of the new digital system, others appreciate its convenience and speed.
To record travel memories, most plan to use photographs or other methods. As borders take on a digital form, these changes are becoming an integral part of modern travel.
