Zelenskiy condemned Russian attacks and called for peace
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressed the nation on the occasion of Christmas and expressed sharp opinions regarding the Russian leadership. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

In his speech, Zelenskiy condemned the attacks carried out by Russian forces on the eve of the holiday, calling such actions "godlessness." He emphasized that the sole desire of Ukrainians is peace and expressed the people's aspirations in this regard.

Although Zelenskiy did not mention Vladimir Putin's name directly in his speech, he expressed negative views about his actions with disdain. The Ukrainian leader described Russian military operations as contrary to humanity and religious values.

He also conveyed the people's hope for peace by appealing to the Creator. Zelenskiy's statement caused sharp dissatisfaction on the Russian side.

Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov called the Ukrainian leader's address an expression of "incivility" and "hostility." Peskov also questioned Zelenskiy's ability to find political and diplomatic solutions.

Relations between the two state leaders have sharply deteriorated in recent years. Although there were attempts to establish peace during Zelenskiy's early years in office, these dialogues later faced a crisis.

After the large-scale war began in 2022, diplomatic relations between the two sides were completely severed. Zelenskiy officially refused to hold negotiations with Putin, calling him a war criminal.

Putin, on the other hand, regards Zelenskiy as a "person under foreign control" and even avoids mentioning his name. Currently, the hostility between the two state leaders has intensified to such an extent that it almost makes peace negotiations impossible.

This issue is also being closely monitored by the international community. Personal and political disagreements between the two leaders remain a serious obstacle to establishing peace in the region.
