Denmark became the first country in the world to stop traditional postal services. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The practice of delivering paper letters in the country officially ended on December 30, 2025. This was reported by various sources.
Denmark's national postal service – PostNord – ended its nearly 400-year operation. The main reason for this decision is the rapid development of digital technologies.
From now on, traditional paper letters will no longer be delivered in the country. According to statistical data, in 2024, Denmark's postal service delivered 90 percent fewer letters compared to the year 2000.
For comparison, in the United States, the volume of letter delivery decreased by 50 percent in 2024 compared to 2006. Additionally, 1,500 mailboxes located in Denmark have been removed and put up for sale.
It has been reported that the proceeds from the sales were directed to charitable purposes. These changes are considered an important step for the country towards adopting digital technologies.
