In 2025, Saudi Arabia recorded a historic high in the number of executions carried out. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the year, 356 prisoners were executed in the country. This was reported by the Daily Mail publication.
This figure marks a new highest level in the number of executions within one year. Experts believe that the sharp increase in executions is linked to the country's intensified policy against drug-related crimes.
According to data, 243 of those executed were sentenced specifically for drug offenses. Compared to 2024, when 338 prisoners were executed,
this shows that the number of executions increased again in 2025. Human rights organizations have expressed deep concern about this situation.
They emphasize that the practice of the death penalty is causing widespread international debate and serious objections regarding human rights.
