100 million euros stolen from a bank in Germany

The robbery that took place at the Sparkasse bank branch in the city of Gelsenkirchen, Germany, has been recorded as one of the largest crimes in the country's history. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The criminals managed to steal more than 100 million euros from the bank. This was reported by the German press outlet Bild newspaper on January 2.
Initially, the damage was estimated to be between 10 million and 90 million euros. Later, it became clear that this amount was even higher.
According to Bild, the bank had 3,250 special safety deposit boxes, 90 percent of which were broken into by the thieves. Each box was insured for an average of 10,300 euros.
The criminals broke through the wall of the parking garage adjacent to the room where the boxes were located to access the bank vault. On December 29, customers gathered in front of the bank building to express their dissatisfaction.
Most of them emphasized that the insurance coverage would only compensate for a portion of the lost money. So far, the criminals have not been apprehended.
Investigations are ongoing. It has been revealed that similar thefts have occurred in banks in other regions of Germany, particularly in the cities of Halle and Bonn.
The fact that the criminals planned and executed such thefts has increased the attention of law enforcement agencies. These incidents have caused a major uproar in German society and have once again brought questions about bank security and the insurance system to the forefront.
