418 people died in aviation accidents in 2025

In 2025, a total of 418 people died worldwide as a result of civil aviation accidents. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The German Aviation Industry Association provided this information based on the US Aviation Safety Network portal. According to the statistics, 352 of the deceased were passengers, 33 were crew members, and 33 were civilians on the ground.
Although this figure has increased compared to 2024, it is significantly lower than the period 50 years ago. For example, in the 1970s, the probability of dying in an airplane was one in 264,000, whereas today this figure is approximately one in 1.5 million.
The largest aviation accident of 2025 occurred in Ahmedabad, India. A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner belonging to Air India crashed.
This incident was recorded as the tragedy with the highest number of casualties during the year. Nevertheless, the level of safety in aviation continues to improve year by year.
Thanks to modern technologies and advanced safety systems, the likelihood of dying in an airplane has significantly decreased. At the same time, the number of passengers continues to increase.
By 2025, the number of air passengers worldwide reached 4.7 billion per year. This indicates the rapid development of the aviation industry.
