Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are opening a new route to China

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have agreed to launch a new multimodal transport corridor on a trial basis. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This corridor is of great importance in connecting Central Asia with China and Europe. Kursiv.uz reported on this project.
The initial trial trip will start from Uzbekistan. A convoy of ten trucks loaded with cargo will travel to China through Tajikistan's territory.
The decision to establish this route was made at the level of the transport ministers of the two countries. Additionally, the parties plan to transition to an electronic system for issuing permits for international freight transportation.
Furthermore, increasing the capacity of the Jartepa — Sarazm border crossing point is also planned. A modern logistics center capable of handling up to 100 trucks per day is planned to be established in this area.
This center will serve to speed up the documentation process and improve the efficiency of freight transportation. The project will also contribute to strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
At the same time, the new corridor is expected to play a strategic role in developing regional trade relations.
