It has been confirmed that there are no restrictions on the Uzbek language in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has responded to reports about restrictions on the use of the Uzbek language in Afghanistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Ministry, no such restrictions exist, and continuous dialogue is being maintained with Afghan partners on this matter. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative, Akhror Burhanov, emphasized that recent information circulating in some mass media and social networks has caused concern in society.
To clarify this situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan held prompt talks with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan. The Afghan side stated that these reports do not correspond to reality and that there are no obstacles to the use of the Uzbek language in the country.
Furthermore, the Afghan government and people have expressed deep respect for the Uzbek people and their language. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, work is currently underway to standardize inscriptions in higher education and general education institutions across the country.
According to this standard, inscriptions are to be in Pashto, Dari, and English. However, in northern regions, including Samangan University, inscriptions are planned to be in Pashto, Dari, and Uzbek.
Additionally, as a symbol of neighborliness and mutual friendship, the Afghan government plans to open a Faculty of "Uzbek Language and Literature" at the graduate level at Jowzjan State University. This is regarded as an important step being taken for the first time in history.
It should be recalled that earlier, the Uzbek-language inscription on the main facade of Samangan University was removed by order of the local authorities. This incident sparked wide public discussion and, as a result, the inscription was restored.
