Strict restrictions on alcohol sales proposed in Kazakhstan

The issue of restricting the consumption of alcoholic products and controlling the sale of alcoholic beverages is being discussed in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the statement of Majlis deputy Magerram Magerramov, alcoholic beverages are one of the main causes of crime and lead to the loss of human potential. According to Tengrinews.kz, data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs shows that most crimes are committed under the influence of alcohol.
Every second murder, every third rape and hooliganism, and every fourth robbery are directly related to alcohol consumption. In addition, more than half of road traffic accidents and cases of domestic violence occur as a result of intoxication.
The deputy emphasized the increasing number of crimes involving minors and noted that the large number of retail outlets complicates control. For this reason, the People's Party faction of Kazakhstan proposes to introduce strict measures regarding alcohol sales.
Among these measures are plans to ban the sale of alcoholic beverages within 100 meters of kindergartens and educational institutions, reduce the number of sales points, implement mandatory digital labeling of alcoholic products, and completely prohibit online sales. It is also proposed that alcohol be sold only in specially designated places, with retail sales stopping after 8:00 PM and sales in cafes and restaurants ceasing after 10:00 PM.
It is noted that currently 429 villages in Kazakhstan have completely given up alcohol. For example, in Aktobe region, 33 villages; in Kyzylorda region, 18 villages; and in Atyrau region, 53 villages have banned the sale of alcoholic beverages.
Since no violations have been recorded in these areas over the past two years, there are plans to expand this experience to other regions as well.
