Energy crisis in Kyiv: residents advised to relocate

The coldest days of the winter season have begun in Kyiv. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In this situation, the issue of supplying the city with electricity and heating systems has become an urgent problem. In an interview with Reuters news agency, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko emphasized that the residents of Kyiv should consider the possibility of temporarily leaving the city.
This call is aimed at helping the city overcome difficult conditions. According to Klitschko, Kyiv requires a capacity of 1700 MW to meet the electricity needs of its 3.6 million residents.
However, current resources only cover about half of this demand. Therefore, the city is experiencing one of the most severe energy crises in its history.
In many areas of the capital, electricity supply is interrupted for 18–20 hours a day. Some multi-story buildings have been left without heating in cold conditions.
The shortage of electricity negatively affects not only lighting in homes but also the operation of heating, water supply, and other essential services. This situation may pose a serious threat to the health and safety of the population.
The city's infrastructure is operating under difficult conditions. Repair teams are working around the clock, and international partners are delivering additional generators for critical facilities.
However, the situation is not easily resolved. Klitschko urges the city's residents not to panic but does not hide that prolonged energy problems seriously affect human safety.
The failure of electricity and heating systems in severe cold could disrupt city life. The city administration recommends that those who can temporarily relocate to safe places do so.
At the same time, restoration work on the energy system continues. According to the DTEK company, large-scale efforts are underway nationwide to resolve electricity supply problems.
In Kyiv region, 187 repair teams have been involved, and work continues in other areas as well. In summary, the situation is difficult, but solutions are being sought.
The city administration and services are using all available resources to address the existing problems. Residents must take precautions to ensure their safety.
Although this period is full of difficulties, efforts to overcome them continue.
