Protests Against Trump's Proposal Took Place in Greenland

Thousands of people in Greenland and Denmark took to the streets to protest against statements by former US President Donald Trump about purchasing Greenland. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
These protests were organized on the initiative of several non-governmental organizations in Greenland and Denmark, taking place in Copenhagen, Nuuk, and other cities. The main demand of the protesters is the respect for Greenland's right to determine its own destiny.
Kamilla Sizing, head of the Inuit organization, drew attention to the relations between Denmark and Greenland in this regard, emphasizing the necessity to adhere to the principles of independence. Donald Trump's proposal to buy the island, citing Greenland's strategic importance for US national security, caused sharp protests in Europe.
Trump also stated that if European countries oppose his plans, tariffs could be imposed on their goods. At the protest held in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen joined the protesters with placards reading "Greenland is not for sale" and "We determine our own future".
One of the protesters, Alan Amstrup, said they want to continue their lives peacefully. According to Reuters agency, a survey conducted among the population of Greenland showed that 85 percent of people are against joining the US.
These protests are assessed not only as an emotional outburst but also as a position expressing Greenland's firm demand for independence. The people of Greenland want to determine their own destiny and clearly demonstrated this signal.
