Jeffrey Sachs: The war could have been stopped through negotiations

Renowned American economist Jeffrey Sachs sharply criticized the situation around Ukraine and the policies of Western countries. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He participated in a broadcast with British politician George Galloway and openly expressed his views on the matter. According to Sachs, Western countries deliberately prolonged the conflict with the aim of weakening Russia and even pushing it out of the Black Sea.
He called this policy a mistake that leads to negative consequences. The economist emphasized that opportunities to stop the war existed from the beginning.
In his opinion, holding negotiations, ensuring security guarantees, and recognizing Ukraine as a neutral state were important measures to prevent the war. Sachs also assessed NATO's expansion as a dangerous decision and said this process should be stopped immediately.
Additionally, Sachs strongly criticized the US military-industrial complex and groups benefiting from the war. He stated that these groups are interested in continuing the war and placed Volodymyr Zelenskyy alongside them.
Sachs's statements may provoke various debates on the international stage. The conclusion drawn from Sachs's remarks is that positions on geopolitical issues are often complex and contradictory.
Discussions continue about NATO's activity, militarization in Europe, and Russia's concerns. According to the expert, conducting negotiations is necessary to stop the war, as it directly affects the future of the region.
