Russia launched large-scale missile attacks on Ukraine

On the night of February 3, Russia launched large-scale attacks across Ukrainian cities. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The main goal of the strikes carried out using missiles and drones was reportedly to damage the energy infrastructure. According to Yuriy Ignat, a representative of the Ukrainian Air Force, the main strike areas were Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Vinnytsia.
More than 70 ballistic missiles were used in the attacks; intercepting such missiles is much more complex than shooting down ordinary drones or cruise missiles. The energy company DTEK classified these strikes among the strongest attacks observed since the beginning of the year.
Damage to thermal power plants and other critical facilities is directly affecting people’s lives. Especially during the cold days of winter, interruptions in electricity and heating supply are causing serious problems for the population.
In the capital Kyiv, 1,170 multi-story buildings were left without heating due to the attack. In some areas, scheduled power outages were introduced.
In conditions where the cold weather has dropped to –20 degrees, such problems place a heavy burden on ordinary people’s lives. Problems continue in the diplomatic sphere as well.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov had stated that a temporary agreement not to strike energy facilities was in effect until February 1. However, the Ukrainian side insists that such restrictions should last longer.
At the same time, a new phase has been set regarding negotiations. At the meeting planned to be held in Abu Dhabi, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that due to the recent strikes, changes will be made to the negotiating team’s position.
In conclusion, the energy issue requires special attention during the winter season. Each strike highlights the need to further strengthen the system.
Developing reserve resources, local heating points, and safety protocols will help overcome such difficulties. Severe cold tests people, but preparation allows overcoming these challenges.
