Vaccination for wild elephants has started in Thailand

In Thailand, special control vaccines for elephants have been introduced to reduce dangerous situations arising between wild elephants and the population. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by Euronews. According to official data, in 2025, 30 people died in Thailand due to wild elephants, and another 29 were injured to varying degrees.
Additionally, more than 2,000 cases of damage to crop fields caused by elephants have been recorded. Experts emphasize that the number of wild elephants is increasing by an average of 8.2% per year.
This rate is twice the usual growth rate. Currently, there are about 4,400 wild elephants in the country, of which 800 live in areas where conflicts are frequently observed.
The government has brought 25 doses of vaccine produced in the USA, which were tested on seven domesticated elephants over two years. The trials reportedly yielded positive results.
This initiative aims to address problems related to elephants entering residential areas in search of food. Such situations mainly arise due to deforestation and the expansion of agricultural lands.
