Azerbaijan Sends Humanitarian Aid to Iran in Response to the Emergency Situation

The Government of Azerbaijan has dispatched humanitarian aid shipments to neighboring the Islamic Republic of Iran. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This initiative is being implemented following a telephone conversation held on March 5 between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. According to the Emergency Situations Department, the shipped cargo includes ten tons of flour, six tons of rice, and two point four tons of sugar.
Additionally, nearly seven tons of drinking water, six hundred kilograms of tea, and almost two tons of various medicines and medical equipment were delivered. Regional news sources are reporting on this matter.
Just prior to the delivery of this aid, significant tensions had arisen between the two brotherly states. Specifically, drones launched from Iran had crashed into the airport area of Nakhchivan city.
As a result of this incident, the airport building suffered serious damage and several civilians were injured. Baku officials had called on Tehran to provide an explanation regarding this incident soon and to conduct an independent investigation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan emphasized that necessary measures must be taken to prevent such unprecedented incidents in the future and announced its reservation of the right to take retaliatory measures. During the phone call, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian clearly stated that Tehran was not directly involved in this drone attack.
He promised that the incident would be thoroughly investigated from all angles and a fair inquiry conducted. This diplomatic dialogue between the parties and the dispatch of humanitarian aid are being assessed as a positive step aimed at stabilizing the situation in the region and resolving emerging misunderstandings through peaceful means.
This event serves to strengthen friendship and solidarity between the two peoples.
