Dangerous area called the gate of hell in Ethiopia
Imagine: you are on another planet. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Toxic fumes are rising from underground like fire, and around there is an endless desert. This desert soil is covered with layers of salt and acid.

In the middle of this lifeless place, there are various lakes whose water appears bright yellow or golden because of the high sulfur content and even radiates heat stronger than fire. This extremely dangerous place really exists.

Although many have not heard about it, reaching it is very difficult and returning safely is considered a true miracle. This area, called the "Gate of Hell," is located in northern Ethiopia on our planet.

This place is called Danakil by the Afar tribes. Looking at the map, it is seen to be located in the Afar basin, more than a hundred meters below sea level.

It is precisely in this area that three large lithospheric plates meet. These plates are constantly moving and shifting in different directions.

Because of this, terrifying natural phenomena occur on the earth's surface. The depression is approximately 40 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide.

However, these figures do not fully express the dangerous nature of the area. It is surrounded by rocky and flat mountains, and nature gives the impression of a mixture of acid, fire, and salt.

Why is it dangerous to breathe and move here? In Danakil, the air and ground can become deadly for humans within seconds.

Although the air temperature averages around 35 degrees, it often rises to 50 degrees. The scorching sun burns living beings, and there is almost no rainfall.

The surface of the depression is covered with a thick layer of salt formed over millions of years. Beneath this fragile crust lie hot and acidic lakes.

Toxic sulfur gas escapes from underground. If someone falls into such a large crack, they will die from chemical burns within seconds.

Breathing is also dangerous because acid fumes damage the lungs. The fiery lake of the desert The most astonishing part of the depression is the Erta Ale volcano.

The locals call it the "Smoking Mountain." The lava lake at the top of the volcano has been continuously boiling for many years.

At night, the glow from the bright red lava can be seen from several kilometers away. The lava is always boiling and does not solidify.

Fiery streams flow along the mountains, coloring the surroundings red and black. According to scientists, this process began billions of years ago when the Earth was still forming.

How do people live in these conditions? Surprisingly, people do live in these conditions.

The Afar tribes have lived on the edge of the depression for centuries. For them, salt is considered "white gold."

Men arm themselves with simple sticks and knives and go out onto the scorching plain. They make heavy plates from salt layers, load them onto camels, and set off for distant mountain markets.

If there were no protection from the heat or toxic gas, living in such conditions would be impossible. Therefore, the local population's living and working in this area requires great patience and endurance.

Although the Danakil Depression is one of the most dangerous places for humans, knowing about its nature and inhabitants increases human respect for nature and life.
