Military plane crashes in Colombia, thousands of victims are being searched for

A Lockheed C-130 Hercules military transport plane crashed in Colombia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This plane was carrying out a service mission with National Army personnel and crew members. The incident occurred in the Puerto-Legisamo municipality of the Putumayo province.
The plane crashed after taking off two kilometers from the airport. According to Carlos Fernando Silva Rueda, head of the Colombian Air Force, there were a total of 114 passengers and 11 crew members on board.
Search and rescue operations are being conducted intensively. So far, 48 people have survived, the fate of the others is unknown.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro stated on social media that 77 victims have been taken to the hospital, and 43 people are still missing. The governor of Putumayo announced that at least 34 people have died.
The AFP agency reported that the number of victims has reached 66. Among them, 58 are soldiers, 6 are air force members, and 2 are police officers.
The Colombian Navy base in Puerto-Legisamo quickly reached the scene and managed to provide medical assistance to the victims. According to the El Heraldo publication, the plane was a gift from the United States to Colombia and was brought to the country in 2020.
The causes of the incident are currently being determined. Rescue operations and investigations are ongoing.
