Israel destroyed five key bridges in Lebanon
The geopolitical situation in the Middle East has intensified to an unprecedented level in recent days, entering a new phase. Zamin.uz reports on this matter.

The Israel Defense Forces have launched new military operations aimed at further expanding their sphere of influence in southern Lebanon and strengthening their strategic positions. According to international analysts and publications, the conflict along the Israel-Lebanon border has turned into bloody clashes.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Tel Aviv intends to bring vast areas south of the Litani River under its control. To this end, Israeli forces have destroyed five key bridges over the river.

Although these structures were used by the Hezbollah movement to transport additional armed forces, international observers note that they are also vital for the civilian population. These bridges provided access for residents to hospitals and medical care.

Politically, these events are unfolding while US President Donald Trump is conducting peace negotiations with Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that strikes on targets in Iran and Lebanon will continue.

According to him, Israel is not only fighting against Hezbollah but also striving to eliminate Iran's missile and nuclear programs. The escalation of the situation has forced the Lebanese government to take unexpected steps as well.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam imposed a ban on the military activities of the Hezbollah movement and demanded that its members hand over their weapons to the state. This decision was made after the group launched missile strikes on Israel in retaliation for the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

As a result of air raids that have been ongoing since the end of February, high-ranking members of Iran's leadership, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, were killed. In response, Tehran is launching drone attacks on US military bases in the Persian Gulf and oil facilities in the region.

The war fire is negatively affecting not only neighboring countries but also regional stability. This process is also impacting Azerbaijan and Cyprus, which is currently holding the presidency of the European Union.

Now the main question is whether the Lebanese government's demand to disarm Hezbollah will be sufficient to establish peace in the region or if it will lead to new problems. Answers to these questions will emerge in the coming days.
