US Navy halts merchant ships departing from Iranian ports

Amid rising tensions in the area of the Strait of Hormuz, the United States Navy announced that it had taken control of 23 merchant ships that had departed from Iranian ports. This information was reported through an official statement by the US Central Command.
According to reports, these ships were forced to change their course after strict warnings from the American armed forces. As a result, all the ships turned back. According to the US military command, at the moment service personnel have not directly boarded the ships and have not placed them under complete control, but have only directed their movement.
At the same time, international news agencies report that the US Navy is preparing a special operation to stop and seize oil tankers linked to Iran. Such measures could further complicate the security situation in the region.
The Strait of Hormuz is currently considered one of the most important points of the global oil market. For this reason, any military actions in this area are expected to affect not only the countries of the region but also the entire world economy. Concerns are growing that tensions between the US and Iran could undermine the security of trade routes.
The reaction of the international community is also being closely watched. Many states emphasise that peace and stability in the region must be preserved and that the free movement of merchant ships must be ensured.
