New project to attract pilgrims to Uzbekistan presented in Istanbul

At an event held in Istanbul, Turkey, the project "Umrah Plus Uzbekistan" was officially presented. The event was organised jointly by the Committee for Tourism of Uzbekistan, the Organization of Turkic States and the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies. Representatives of more than fifty reputable Turkish travel agencies took part in the presentation.
The main goal of the project is to familiarise pilgrims arriving in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah with the sacred sites of Uzbekistan, its rich historical monuments and modern infrastructure. In this way new and interesting tourist destinations are being created for pilgrims.
During the event, participants were shown special video materials about the Centre of Islamic Civilisation and the Imam Bukhari complex, built on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. These institutions were presented as important centres that showcase to the world the scientific and educational heritage of Uzbekistan.
At the end of the event, a memorandum was signed on increasing the flow of pilgrims from the Turkish market to Uzbekistan and effectively launching new tourist routes. According to the signed document, it is planned to significantly increase the number of tourists visiting the country by the end of this year. This measure will further strengthen cooperation in the field of tourism between the two states.
