It became known that the number of migrants in Europe has reached a historic level

Migration processes in the territory of the European Union have significantly intensified in recent years, and by the end of 2025 historic indicators have been recorded. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Based on official data, it became known that the number of people living in the union countries and born outside Europe has reached 64 million. This information is reflected in an analytical report prepared by the Berlin branch of the Danish non-profit foundation Rockwool.
According to the figures provided in the document, during 2025 the number of migrants who arrived in Europe was 2.1 million people. Although this figure is about 500,000 people fewer than in 2024, the overall migration pressure still remains at a high level. Analyses show that European countries continue to be the main direction of the world's migration flow. The increase in the number of newcomers has a variety of impacts directly on both the labour market and the social system.
A large part of the migrants headed to countries with Europe's largest economies, such as Germany, France, Spain and Italy. These very countries have borne the main burden of the migration flow.
Currently, the average share of migrants in the total population of the European Union is 14.2 percent. However, in some smaller states, this figure has reached a much higher level. For example, in Luxembourg this share is 52 percent, in Malta 32 percent, and in Cyprus 28 percent. This situation indicates that migration is significantly affecting the demographic structure of small states.
