Abandoned houses in Italy put up for sale for one euro

Ten municipalities in the north of Italy's Vicenza province, considered one of Europe's most beautiful and charming regions, have launched a unique project by mutual agreement. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The main goal of this initiative is to breathe life back into mountain villages and halt the migration of the local population to other regions. To this end, abandoned and dilapidated real estate properties in the area have been put up for sale at a symbolic price of one euro.
International publications are reporting detailed information on this matter. The Pasubio Piccole Dolomiti mountain community association is implementing a village restoration plan based on a special territorial program.
Although the application period has closed, the number of submissions confirmed that interest in this project was much higher than expected. According to reports, a total of seventy-eight official purchase offers were sent to the relevant authorities.
Notably, a significant portion of these applications came from foreign investors and foreign citizens living in Italy. In the initial stage, more than twenty buildings were put up for sale out of hundreds identified as unused.
Mosè Squarzon, head of the union of mountain communities and mayor of Monte di Malo, views this initiative not merely as a commercial transaction, but as a vital investment in the region's future. He emphasized that the primary objective is to bring life back to the beautiful, vacant locations that people abandoned in pursuit of modern conveniences and to transform them into cherished homes.
The final list of buyers intending to purchase and restore the old houses is expected to be announced soon. Such projects serve not only to preserve architectural heritage but also to promote the economic development of remote areas.
