The year 2026 is becoming a period of serious challenges and updates for the global education system, as reported by Zamin.uz. The rapid development of technology and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into our daily lives are forcing higher education institutions to fundamentally rethink their teaching methods.

We analyze the historical shifts occurring in universities worldwide and the primary reasons behind the return to oral examinations. Currently, traditional assessment methods are losing their effectiveness in prestigious universities across the United States and Europe.

The main reason is the widespread use of AI tools by students to complete written assignments. Consequently, it has become increasingly difficult for instructors to distinguish a student's actual knowledge from polished, AI-generated responses.

Therefore, many universities have decided to return to oral exams based on face-to-face interviews as the most reliable method. According to experts, the oral exam format reveals several critical aspects.

First, a live conversation determines how deeply a student understands the topic, leaving no room for concealment. Second, prompt answers to questions demonstrate the student's cognitive and thinking abilities.

Third, direct communication with the instructor virtually eliminates the possibility of cheating. At the same time, education analysts are highlighting the concept of the "AI generation" as a new risk.

Over-reliance on technology may diminish students' skills in independent analysis and deep research. Ethical issues are also emerging; for instance, cases of AI-generated fake videos (deepfakes) of teachers have been observed in Australia.

This has brought not only the quality of knowledge but also security concerns to the forefront. In conclusion, the global education system is seeking new ways to ensure harmony with artificial intelligence.

To maintain their reputation and educational quality, universities are reviving old but proven methods, adapting them to modern requirements. Do you believe that oral exams are the fairest way to assess a student's knowledge?

Or should the examination system be completely restructured to allow the use of AI? Furthermore, do you think artificial intelligence will eventually replace human intelligence?
