Young Kazakhstani Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in Dubai

A young man from Kazakhstan has received a severe sentence in the United Arab Emirates. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Dubai court sentenced the 22-year-old citizen to life imprisonment.
This decision was announced by the Dubai Court of First Instance in March of this year, finding the citizen guilty of several serious crimes. In addition to the long-term prison sentence, the court also imposed a substantial financial fine.
According to relatives and social media reports, the young man went to the UAE last year for work, where he was employed as a driver. His family maintains his innocence, suggesting he may have fallen victim to false accusations.
However, the current court ruling indicates a complex situation. Officials have stated that the legal proceedings are not yet concluded.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Alibek Bakayev emphasized that the issue of returning or extraditing the convict is not currently on the agenda. The primary reason is that an appeal has been filed against the court's verdict, and the case is under review.
Negotiations regarding the transfer of the prisoner are impossible until all legal stages are fully completed and the final decision comes into force. The case is being handled in accordance with the current legislation and legal norms of the UAE.
Kazakhstan's Consulate General in Dubai and the involved lawyers are working closely on the matter to protect the citizen's rights. Diplomatic representatives stated they are providing all necessary legal and practical assistance.
The situation remains under the constant supervision of the ministry, and the young man's future fate will depend on the final conclusion of the appellate court.
