ChatGPT Plus service is free for Malta citizens

The Maltese government is preparing to become the first country in the world to offer its citizens free access to the ChatGPT Plus service, Zamin.uz reported.

OpenAI announced the official launch of a comprehensive national program called Artificial Intelligence for All in this context. The initiative is being regarded as a significant step toward bringing modern technologies to all layers of society.

According to the terms of the signed agreement, Maltese citizens who successfully complete a special training course on artificial intelligence technologies will be entitled to free, unlimited access to the ChatGPT Plus system for one year. The initial phase of this strategic project is expected to begin in May of the current year.

The implementation and monitoring of the program will be coordinated by Malta’s Directorate for Digital Innovation. Government officials emphasized that the main goal of the initiative is to develop citizens’ skills in working with modern technologies and improve digital literacy.

Silvio Schembri, Malta’s Minister for Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects, noted that the country aims to secure leading positions in the era of global digital transformation. According to him, the government seeks to enhance citizens’ competitiveness by providing them with access to the world’s most advanced technological innovations.

Importantly, this opportunity will be available not only to residents living within Malta’s borders but also to Maltese citizens residing abroad. Although the project has a broad scope, the financial terms and costs of the agreement between OpenAI and the Maltese government have not yet been disclosed.

Such initiatives are expected to serve as a model for other countries in the future and accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence into everyday life.
