Misr launches largest military hospital in the world

Located about 45 kilometers east of Cairo, the new administrative center of Egypt’s capital has officially launched operations at what is now the world’s largest underground military command center, according to Zamin.uz.
The vast complex, notable for its distinctive octagonal architectural design, has been named the Octagon, as reported by influential Egyptian publications.
The new Strategic Command Headquarters of the Egyptian Armed Forces is intended to become a pivotal node in the nation’s military governance system. This major initiative will serve as a central hub for unified command, communication, and coordination among army divisions, government ministries, and law enforcement agencies.
The Octagon complex comprises eight interconnected core buildings, symbolically representing the various branches and strategic divisions of the Egyptian Armed Forces. The central command building, situated at the heart of the compound, is designed to facilitate rapid information exchange and joint decision-making among military leadership.
Spanning approximately 92 square kilometers, the site is divided into 13 strategic and logistical zones. It is equipped with state-of-the-art ground-based data centers, digital infrastructure, drone-based reconnaissance systems, and intelligent technologies for processing large volumes of data.
The facility also features advanced cybersecurity measures. Experts emphasize that the structure was built on specialized engineering solutions designed to withstand powerful impacts and aerial attacks.
The complex operates independently of external sources for electricity, water, and cooling systems, enabling it to maintain full functionality even under extreme conditions. According to the project’s authors, the external appearance of the facility draws inspiration from symbols of ancient Egyptian culture and geometric forms representing order and precision.
The new headquarters will support swift strategic decision-making, centralized crisis management, and the enhancement of Egypt’s national defense capabilities.
