How did Russia respond to the conflict between Zelensky and Trump?

Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on the debate between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. This was reported by “Radio Mayak”.

“The event that took place at the White House on February 28 clearly demonstrated how difficult it will be to find a way to resolve the situation around Ukraine. The Kyiv regime and Zelensky do not want peace. They want the continuation of the war. Therefore, in this situation, only Washington's efforts and Moscow's readiness will not be enough. A very important element is missing,” Peskov said.

He noted that the “West has begun to partially lose its cohesion” and that President Vladimir Putin is aware of all the “subtle aspects” of the conflict.

“Without a doubt, he knows the essence of the event that occurred. Especially since all its details were open to the entire world community. For this reason, the president is aware of all its subtle aspects. This was an extraordinarily unusual event, and Zelensky demonstrated, at least in many respects, his lack of diplomatic abilities,” Peskov said.

He also spoke about Putin's reaction to the conflict at the White House:

“He took into account the event that occurred and once again the whole of Russia is convinced that Putin is right. Despite the openness of the Russian side to the negotiation process, Putin emphasized that the situation is leading to the Kyiv regime's unwillingness to support such a process. We saw this fully manifest in Washington,” said the Kremlin press secretary.

The meeting between Trump and Zelensky took place on February 28 in Washington and ended in conflict, which is why the Ukrainian president left the White House prematurely. An agreement between the US and Ukraine on rare metals was canceled due to the scandal. In particular, Trump accused Zelensky of “playing with a third world war” and not being ready for peace. European leaders publicly supported the Ukrainian leader.
