An unexpected leading country emerged in the global tourism industry in the early months of 2025. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Saudi Arabia has outpaced all countries in terms of revenue growth in the tourism sector, according to the country's Ministry of Tourism press service. According to the ministry's data, foreign tourists spent a total of 13.2 billion dollars in Saudi Arabia in the first quarter of 2025.
This figure has increased by approximately 10 percent compared to the same period in 2024. This is not only a result of economic growth but also reflects the country's focus on the tourism sector.
The number of foreign guests has also significantly increased. Compared to the same period in 2019, this figure has risen by 102 percent.
This is 3 percent higher than the global average growth rate and 44 percent higher than the Middle East region. Saudi Arabia continues to achieve its long-term strategic goals.
The Kingdom aims to attract nearly 150 million foreign tourists each year and become one of the most popular destinations in the world for tourism. These results are a consequence of the reforms and investments being implemented within the framework of the country's "Vision 2030" strategic program.
Saudi Arabia is actively working not only in pilgrimage tourism but also in cultural, sports, and ecotourism sectors. Recently held international exhibitions, sports competitions, and cultural events have significantly enhanced the country's global reputation.
The ongoing efforts to digitize visas, upgrade infrastructure, and create convenience for guests are yielding results. Such growth positively impacts not only tourism but also hospitality, logistics, trade, and service sectors.
Saudi Arabia is striving to diversify its traditional oil-based economy, and tourism is becoming one of the leading sectors in this process. Undoubtedly, Saudi Arabia's successes will serve as an example for other countries as well.
Saudi Arabia, which has become a more open and modern destination for tourists, will continue to set new records in the coming periods.
