The South Korean Supreme Court found Lee Jae-yong, the chairman of Samsung Electronics, not guilty in a trial regarding the merger of Cheil Industries and Samsung C&T. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The prosecution had requested a five-year prison sentence for him. Lee Jae-yong was accused of crimes such as fraud, forgery of financial documents, and abuse of trust.
According to the court's charges, these actions were committed in 2015. At that time, Lee Jae-yong was serving as the vice president of the company's board of directors and had taken over management due to his father's deteriorating health.
He was officially appointed as chairman in 2022. After the court's decision was announced, Samsung's shares rose by 0.6 percent when trading began.
The company's future successes will largely depend on the recovery of the semiconductor industry and the development of artificial intelligence technologies
