Zelensky: There are positive changes in negotiations with the USA

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced that there are positive changes in the negotiations between the US and Ukraine. He emphasized that representatives of both countries have begun working on an upcoming meeting.

Zelensky spoke about this in his video address on March 6. Following that, the head of the Ukrainian president's office, Andrey Yermak, revealed that he had a phone conversation with US National Security Advisor Mike Valls and that the results of the negotiations could be announced next week.

Step towards a just peace

Andrey Yermak wrote a separate post on his social media page about the phone conversation with Mike Valls. He stated,

“We discussed the next steps on the path to a just and lasting peace. We also exchanged views on aligning positions in bilateral relations between the US and Ukraine,” Yermak wrote.

Zelensky also noted in his video address that several international activities have taken place ahead of the European Union summit in Brussels. The Ukrainian leader mentioned that he communicated with the leaders of the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, and Germany, expressing gratitude for their support.

The US has stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine

These negotiations are taking place after the US decided not to provide Ukraine with critical intelligence regarding the movements of Russian troops.

On March 6, US National Security Advisor Mike Valls stated:
“We took a step back, paused temporarily, and are reviewing all aspects of our relationship.”

This decision reflects the tension in relations between Washington and Kyiv. On March 4, the US temporarily halted military assistance to Ukraine. Zelensky announced his readiness for negotiations and emphasized the importance of maintaining partnership relations between Ukraine and America.

Negotiations between the US and Ukraine appear to be revitalizing. According to Zelensky and Yermak, a new meeting between the US and Ukraine is being planned, which could pave the way for peace negotiations.

However, Washington's decision to stop sharing intelligence with Ukraine, as well as the temporary halt of US military assistance, remains a serious test for Ukraine. How this will be resolved will become clear in the negotiations next week.
