Chevrolet has unveiled an electric car named Blazer EV.R. It only resembles the production Blazer in terms of exterior design. In fact, it is a three-motor prototype for the electric version of NASCAR races. The official presentation of this 1300 horsepower model is expected to take place at the Daytona 500 race.
Blazer EV.R specifications
The Blazer EV.R is based on the NASCAR Next-Gen chassis, but it is equipped with three six-phase electric motors instead of a traditional V8 engine. These motors can reach up to 15,000 RPM and can operate with a full-wheel drive system. The electric system is powered by a 78 kWh liquid-cooled battery.
Although the exterior of the Blazer EV.R resembles the production Blazer crossover, it is equipped with large aerodynamic elements, a front bumper, and a large rear wing. Additionally, it features a two-door body, the absence of side windows, and a safety cage.
So far, Chevrolet has stated that there are no plans to release this car for practical use, but it is being considered as an innovative testing ground.
Blazer EV SS will be a pace car at Daytona 500
As part of the Daytona 500, Chevrolet will also present the Blazer EV SS, a sports crossover with 615 horsepower. It can reach a speed of 96 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. This model is the fastest SS in Chevrolet's history.
Ford has also introduced its Mustang Mach-E electric model. It also has 1300 horsepower and was showcased when Ford announced its participation in the 2027 "24 Hours of Le Mans" race.
