The number of private cars in Uzbekistan is approaching 5 million

The number of personal vehicles in Uzbekistan is increasing year by year. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As of April 1, 2026, the number of vehicles owned by individuals reached 4 million 903.1 thousand. This figure is 344.6 thousand higher than in the same period of 2025.
The main share belongs to passenger cars. According to the State Statistics Committee, passenger cars make up the largest portion of vehicles owned by individuals.
Their total number is 4 million 552.3 thousand, which equals 92.8 percent of all vehicles. Thus, in Uzbekistan, out of every 100 vehicles owned by individuals, about 93 are passenger cars.
It increased by approximately 345 thousand in one year. Compared to the same period in 2025, the number of personal vehicles rose by 344.6 thousand.
This indicates that the automobile market, demand for personal transport, and pressure on road infrastructure are all growing. Vehicles are distributed by type as follows.
Passenger cars: 4 million 552.3 thousand; trucks: 330.3 thousand; minibuses: 7.5 thousand; special vehicles: 7.2 thousand; buses: 5.8 thousand. Trucks rank second.
After passenger cars, the largest category is trucks, with a total of 330.3 thousand.
The number of minibuses, buses, and special vehicles is relatively low, and their combined figure is much lower than that of passenger cars.
What do these numbers indicate?
The rapid growth in the number of automobiles further intensifies a range of issues. In cities, traffic congestion is increasing, the need for parking spaces is growing, road infrastructure requires expansion, public transport needs development, and air pollution must be reduced.
The number of personal vehicles in Uzbekistan is approaching the 5 million mark. If this growth continues at the same pace, this indicator could reach a new record in the near future.
Such rapid growth in the number of automobiles brings convenience on one hand, but on the other hand, it clearly worsens traffic congestion and environmental problems. Therefore, the government and citizens must jointly seek solutions to these challenges.
