Car production in Uzbekistan increased by 5%
According to the report published by the National Statistics Committee, the automotive industry of Uzbekistan demonstrated stable growth in the first five months of 2025. This was reported by Upl.uz.

During the period from January to May, the production volume of passenger cars reached 153,800 units, which is an increase of nearly 5 percent compared to the same period in 2024. The main driver of the market remains the Chevrolet Cobalt model.

Every third car produced in the country corresponds to this model, totaling 58,900 units. Although the growth in production of this model was somewhat slow, it amounted to 2.4 percent.

Additionally, a significant increase was observed in the production of Damas, another long-standing participant in the local market. Its production volume increased by 24.1 percent, reaching 38,700 units, securing the second place in the production ranking.

On the other hand, production capacities and consumer demand are being redistributed. The production of two popular models continues to decline.

The production of the Tracker crossover decreased by 6.2 percent, totaling 18,070 units. The Chery brand also saw a reduction of 15.9 percent, producing 3,362 units.

However, the production volume of the Onix sedan increased by 8.8 percent, reaching 16,250 units. The results of factories that do not belong to the traditional UzAuto Motors group attract special attention.

A significant increase of 35.6 percent was recorded in the production of Kia cars, exceeding 10,000 units. The Haval brand showed the highest growth rate, increasing production by 12.7 times to produce 2,930 vehicles.

A new market participant, the BYD factory in Jizzakh region, accounted for the production of 5,495 electric vehicles. The sales data provided by the "Uzavtosanoat" company confirms the production trends.

In five months, more than 135,900 cars were sold. UzAuto Motors' market share reached 55.9 percent, securing the largest position.

It was followed by Xorazm Avto with 26.3 percent and ADM Jizzakh with 11.4 percent. The market share of the new BYD Uzbekistan Factory reached 5.8 percent.

In the brand ranking, Chevrolet maintains its leadership, with the number of cars sold exceeding 111,800, approximately half of which corresponds to the Cobalt model. Kia sales amounted to 9,224 units, while BYD sold 7,859 electric vehicles, indicating high demand for the products from the Jizzakh factory.

Among the five best-selling brands are Chery and Haval, with their results totaling 3,474 and 2,822 vehicles, respectively. The composition of sales by model indicates a high level of demand concentration.

The five best-selling models - Chevrolet Cobalt, Damas, Tracker, Labo, and Onix - account for more than 81.5 percent of the total market volume. The top ten also includes the Kia Sonet, three models from BYD, and the Haval M6 crossover, indicating diversification in consumer choices.

The automotive industry of Uzbekistan is one of the oldest and largest industries in Central Asia. Since the first car was produced at the plant in Asaka city in 1996, the country has maintained its position as the only light vehicle manufacturer in the region.
