Now, a separate nomination for four-legged actors may be introduced at the Oscars. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The IFC film company officially submitted an application to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on behalf of Indi, the dog who played the lead role in the film “Dog’s Eye.” This was reported by Variety magazine.
In the letter, Indi humorously asked the Academy members to consider him as a nominee for the “Best Actor” category. The letter stated, “Critics have highly praised my performance, but I was very upset to hear that I am not worthy of the ‘Best Actor’ nomination.
It’s as if someone has pulled my leash,” it read. The authors also emphasized the important role animals have played in film history in movies such as “White Fang,” “Free Willy,” “The Kid,” “Birds,” and “War Horse.”
According to them, animal actors often carry the entire emotional weight and the main spirit of a film franchise. The plot of the film revolves around a young man named Todd and his loyal dog Indi.
The young man moves to a village house inherited from his grandfather, but unusual creatures and spirits live there. Indi shows heroism to protect his owner from these threats.
The lead role in the horror film is played by Indi, a dog trained by the director Ben Leonberg himself. The premiere of “Dog’s Eye” will take place in Russia on October 16.
