
The press service of the Andijan regional internal affairs department reported that cases of illegal use of electricity and involvement in cryptocurrency mining have been identified. This was reported by Upl.uz.
Employees of the internal affairs agencies conducted a special operational event within the framework of the "Safe and Healthy Country" program. During the event, the home of a citizen born in 1995, residing in Andijan city, was inspected.
During the inspection of the house, it was revealed that this individual had illegally organized a mining farm and connected all necessary equipment to the public electricity network without permission. As a result, the criminal illegally used electricity worth a total of 2.1 billion soums.
Additionally, 21 pieces of special equipment were seized from the participant in the crime as physical evidence. Preliminary investigative actions are being carried out regarding this case.
The criminal may be held accountable under part 4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, under the article "Theft." The penalty for illegal use of electricity is up to 15 years of imprisonment.
This case once again highlights the importance of ongoing efforts to combat illegal use of electricity and ensure the rule of law in the country.
