Two Bolivian football players will not play against Colombia in the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Local publication Antena 2 reported on this matter. A representative of the Colombian national team informed journalist Adrian Manyoli that two Bolivian players had tested positive for doping.
Currently, one of them, Boris Sespedes, has admitted to the incident. The positive result was identified in a test conducted after the match against Uruguay.
According to Manyoli, FIFA has a lenient approach to this situation and will allow retesting. The results of the retest will be ready in 5-6 months.
Therefore, no measures are being taken at this time. Points will only be deducted if many players violate the rules.
Currently, points will not be deducted as only two players have tested positive for doping. Sespedes stated that he took medication to cope with the negative effects of playing at high altitude.
The capital of Bolivia is located at an altitude of 3500 meters above sea level. With two rounds remaining in the qualifying phase, Bolivia is still in contention for a World Cup spot, sitting just one point behind the playoff zone.
