The leaders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan visited the Khujand fortress
During the cultural program of the summit in Khojand, Tajikistan, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadir Japarov visited the Khojand fortress and got acquainted with its history.
It is noted that the construction of this unique complex dates back to the 4th-5th centuries BC. Archaeological excavations have revealed that the first fortress was built during that period.
After renovation work in 1999, a local history museum was opened near the fortress, containing more than 28,000 exhibits.
During the latest restoration works, the fortress walls, arches, and gates were restored, an administrative building was constructed, craft shops were established, and samples of ancient Khojand courtyards were created.
A complex consisting of 5 exhibition halls related to the history and culture of the Tajik people has been built in the area. In 8 courtyards, artisans are engaged in calligraphy, painting, weaving adras, sewing suzani, stone carving, blacksmithing, and pottery.
The state leaders reviewed the exhibition of crafts, agricultural products, and national dishes of the three countries and watched artistic performances.
