The causes and consequences of power outages in Tashkent have been identified
Recently, the electricity supply in Tashkent city has been interrupted many times. This was reported by Upl.uz. Especially in the Yunusabad district, electricity is cut off almost every day. The regional electricity network organization has revealed the reasons for these outages. According to the organization, the power outages are mainly related to preparations for the autumn-winter season. Due to repair work being carried out in the areas, electricity supply is temporarily suspended for safety reasons. Additionally, the organization noted that some emergencies are also occurring due to abnormal heat. However, the residents of Tashkent are expressing dissatisfaction with the activities of the Ministry of Energy and other state bodies dealing with electricity supply. Along with frequent power outages, the voltage level in their homes is very low. So far, the leadership has not been seriously addressing this issue, resulting in the population suffering greatly during the hot summer days. For this reason, it is necessary for the responsible parties to resolve this issue as soon as possible. The continuous and quality supply of electricity is crucial for improving the quality of life of the population.

The intense heat of the summer season was also a significant challenge. As a result, facing these difficulties, the woman decided to say goodbye to sunny Tashkent and return to her homeland. Her story was actively discussed by many users. Many confirmed similar problems specifically in the fields of ecology and healthcare. A 106-year-old man openly reveals the secret to a long life
A 106-year-old man openly reveals the secret to a long life
A 106-year-old man in Great Britain openly shared one of the key factors for his longevity. This was reported by Upl.uz. World War II veteran Leslie Lemon recently emphasized in an interview with The Mirror that consuming a special dessert as part of his daily diet is the foundation of his health. He revealed that using custard is the most important factor in maintaining his health. Leslie Lemon was born on July 1, 1919, and recently celebrated his latest birthday. He spoke in detail about his eating habits, stating that custard is a regular part of his main menu. He usually buys this custard from the store. Among his favorite foods are rhubarb grown in his garden and trifle desserts enriched with cream. According to Lemon, the secret to his long life lies in the custard. He consumes this dessert cold every day. At the same time, he does not suffer from any chronic illnesses and does not regularly take medication. He rarely seeks medical assistance. His family members, including eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, confirm that despite his age, he is in very good physical condition. His family states that fish and chips, a classic British dish, is second in his diet. His younger son, 73-year-old Richard, confirms that his parents' eating habits have been maintained for many years. He recalls that they always consumed fresh fruits and vegetables during his childhood. Richard mentions that his parents always believed in eating pudding, and Leslie always consumed custard. Leslie Lemon's unique health and longevity have not only attracted media attention. When he turned 100 in 2019, he was gifted a personalized custard container. Additionally, he received several congratulatory letters from the royal family. He received congratulations from Queen Elizabeth II when he turned 100, and from King Charles and Queen Camilla when he turned 105 and 106. Also, one of the local companies gifted him a large quantity of his favorite dessert. Leslie Lemon's wife, Doreen, was married to him since 1944 and passed away in 1999. He views life with peace and contentment. "Everything should be moderate. I am very lucky and happy," he says. At the same time, he admits that modern technologies are not very close to him. In particular, video calls seem complicated to him, and he states that he is somewhat old-fashioned. Custard powder was invented in England by Alfred Bird in 1837. This invention arose due to his wife's egg allergy, as eggs are an integral part of the classic custard recipe. With Bird's invention, it became possible to prepare a dessert based on corn starch.

The cost of registering IMEI codes has increased
The cost of registering IMEI codes has increased
The price of illegal registration services for mobile phone IMEI codes is sharply increasing in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Upl.uz. The public organization "Potrebitel.Uz," which protects consumer rights, reported this. In the market, particularly in the "Malika" shopping complex, the price of such services has risen from the usual 30-40 dollars to 100-150 dollars and even up to 250 dollars. This sharp increase in prices is related to the introduction of new customs fees and the tightening of control over the declaration of mobile devices. This is causing many citizens to face difficulties in legalizing their phones. The rise in the price of illegal services is explained not only by the new customs payments but also by the increase in the number of citizens violating the new legal requirements for device declaration. Currently, the initiative to register IMEI codes is not yielding the expected results; instead of reducing the black market for phones, it is stimulating the development of new types of illegal services. Thus, the new laws are leading to an increase in criminal activity instead of improving the situation and enhancing transparency.

The flight was delayed due to a drone threat at Pulkovo airport
The flight of the "YUTeyr" airline from St. Petersburg to Samarkand was delayed by half an hour. This was reported by Upl.uz. This information was obtained from the airport's online schedule. One of the reasons for the delay was the temporary closure of the airspace over "Pulkovo" airport. This closure was related to a drone threat. Flight UT 881 was scheduled to take off at 11:05 local time, but the departure time was moved to 11:35. Boarding for the flight began at 10:55. The closure of the airspace occurred because the air defense forces intercepted three drone attacks over Leningrad region at night. As a result of this incident, at least 11 flights were canceled, and more than 60 flights were delayed. Currently, the airport's operations have been restored and are functioning normally. All services for passengers are fully provided, and information about flight delays is being regularly updated.

The head of the YHXBB was removed from the position in Fergana
The head of the Road Traffic Safety Department in Fergana region, Akmal Akhmedov, has been dismissed from his position. This was reported by Upl.uz. The reason for this was the illegal cancellation of 106 traffic rule violations recorded in the state number 40 081 SBA Malibu vehicle. Earlier, information had circulated on social media that this vehicle belonged to a company associated with Akhmedov's close relative. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed this information. Akmal Akhmedov was immediately dismissed from his position, and the work documents were handed over to law enforcement agencies for further investigation. Interestingly, the driver of this vehicle had fully paid all previously canceled fines. This situation is significant for ensuring the rule of law in the field of road traffic safety and combating corruption. Additionally, this incident demonstrates an increase in the transparency and accountability of government agencies. Strict measures are planned to be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

Measures against begging for charity have been intensified in Tashkent
Measures against begging for charity have been intensified in Tashkent
The Tashkent city Department of Internal Affairs provided information on the fight against illegal activities in the city. This was reported by Upl.uz. According to the published report, in the first six months of 2025, law enforcement agencies identified 1,880 individuals, for whom persistent begging has become a primary source of income, turning into a "professional" activity. Despite the systematic efforts of law enforcement agencies, this issue remains urgent in major public places in Tashkent. Begging continues in market areas, congested transport spots, and other places where people gather. Their methods often exceed the limits of simple asking. Various tricks to demand money, including mimicking illness or emergencies, have been recorded. Some individuals exhibit disturbing and aggressive behavior towards passersby, particularly targeting women and girls, which leads to conflict situations. The scale of the problem is clearly demonstrated by the results of rapid preventive measures conducted in June of this year. During this period, approximately 300 individuals engaged in begging were identified. As a result of inspections, various legal and social measures were implemented. 70 individuals were administratively detained, which is the highest measure according to the relevant article. Another 47 offenders were fined. Official court warnings were issued to 68 individuals to prevent such activities in the future. Special attention is given to minors. 44 children were directed to special centers for social and legal assistance, and the circumstances that led them to the streets are being investigated. Additionally, 15 individuals without identification documents were sent to rehabilitation centers. In two cases, criminal cases were initiated for acts with signs of a crime. Investigations are ongoing for the remaining individuals. The Department of Internal Affairs reminds about the legal consequences of this activity. Begging is regulated as an administrative offense under Article 188-3 of the Administrative Responsibility Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The most common penalty under this article is a fine equal to three base calculation values (currently 1.1 million soums) or administrative detention for up to 15 days. The legislation prescribes harsher penalties for those who involve vulnerable categories of citizens in begging, particularly minors, the elderly, or individuals with disabilities and mental disorders. Additionally, the fine for those who force a person to beg by compelling them to consume alcohol or drugs can reach 10 base calculation values (3.7 million soums), as well as administrative detention for up to 15 days. If an administrative penalty is imposed and the offense is repeated within a year, or if it is committed by a repeat offender or members of an organized group, criminal liability arises. Article 127-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan provides for a penalty of up to five years of imprisonment for such crimes. The issue of begging often has a dual nature. On one hand, it is related to the activities of organized criminal groups, with cases of exploitation of individuals. On the other hand, it is an indicator of social problems, including poverty, lack of identification documents, family disintegration, and insufficient social services. Therefore, the

List of products not suitable for storage in the refrigerator
List of products not suitable for storage in the refrigerator
In hot summer days, using a refrigerator becomes not only a convenience but also a necessity for many households. This was reported by Upl.uz. However, as emphasized by agronomy and food technology specialists, cooling products does not always guarantee their freshness. For some products, low temperatures and high humidity can lead to a deterioration in taste and nutritional value, as well as rapid spoilage. Analyses show that improper storage is one of the main causes of food waste. Below is a list of products that should not be stored in the refrigerator. Storing bananas in a cold place accelerates the darkening process of their peel and negatively affects the internal structure of the fruit. This situation leads to the breakdown of complex carbohydrates, altering the taste and chemical composition of the banana. It is advisable to store bananas at room temperature, in a place protected from direct sunlight. For potatoes, low temperatures lead to the breakdown of carbohydrates into sugar forms. This changes the taste of the product, making it sweeter and more watery. Additionally, cooking potatoes at high temperatures can produce harmful acrylamide. Therefore, it is recommended to store potatoes in a dry, dark, cool, and well-ventilated place. Tomatoes are particularly sensitive to cold, and at temperatures below +12 degrees, their ripening process stops, and their taste and aroma are lost. Cold temperatures damage the texture of tomato skin and flesh, reducing the quality of the product. It is better to store tomatoes at room temperature, in a single layer, for example, in ceramic or glass containers. Storing olive oil in the refrigerator causes it to thicken and crystallize. This process deteriorates the taste and beneficial properties of the oil. The best storage place is a dark kitchen cabinet away from heat. Storing onions and garlic in the refrigerator can lead to rot and mold due to high humidity. Additionally, onions can sprout early in the cold. It is advisable to store these products in a dry, well-ventilated place at room temperature, such as in nets or woven bundles. Fruits like bananas, apples, and tomatoes release ethylene gas, which accelerates the ripening of nearby fruits and vegetables. Therefore, it is recommended to store them separately from ethylene-sensitive products like cucumbers and leafy greens.

Admission permits have been distributed to the applicants
The process of distributing official admission permits for applicants participating in entrance test exams at higher education institutions in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan has begun. This was reported by Upl.uz. Information was provided by the press service of the Agency for Evaluation of Knowledge and Skills. The process of obtaining permits has been organized in digital form through the my.uzbmb.uz web portal. Applicants can generate and print their permits by entering their personal identification number and the series and number of their valid passport. These nationwide test exams are an important stage that provides thousands of young people in our country with the opportunity to enter higher education institutions. Agency representatives emphasized that strict rules will be enforced on the day of the test, and it is necessary for applicants to arrive at the examination center at the designated time. Two documents are required for entry to the testing area — the printed permit and an identity document (passport or ID card). Failure to comply with the rules specified in the official warning, including the absence of any required documents or tardiness, may result in the denial of entry to the exam, consequently depriving the applicant of the right to participate in this year's selection. In recent years, entrance exams to higher education in Uzbekistan have been held in stadiums and large park areas to maintain social distancing and ensure the transparency of the process. This has turned the process into one of the largest and most complex events organized in the region.

Please buy watermelon and melon only from the official market
Please buy watermelon and melon only from the official market
With the appearance of the first watermelons and melons in the markets and supermarkets of Uzbekistan, specialists in the field of gastroenterology are advising the population to exercise caution. This was reported by Upl.uz. Traditionally, the mass ripening of watermelons and melons in the republic occurs in the second half of July and in August. However, despite the high desire to use the early harvest that appears in the sales stalls in May and June, this situation can pose health risks. Gastroenterologist Kamola Akramova emphasizes that if local fruits appear much earlier than the established deadlines in natural conditions, this situation requires vigilance. According to her, the phenological cycles of watermelons and melons in Uzbekistan's climatic conditions are well studied. In regions such as Khorezm and the Fergana Valley, the mass ripening of fruits in open fields starts later. Therefore, products sold in spring and early summer are usually imported or grown using intensive agricultural technologies. Akramova also noted that imported fruits from countries that produce crops throughout the year are often sold through large retail chains, and such organizations undergo documentation and laboratory control that certifies product safety. However, the greatest concern is focused on products that are artificially ripened in local fields. As an agricultural specialist, Akramova stated that farmers often excessively use nitrogen fertilizers such as nitrates to obtain fruits before the natural harvest season. These substances accelerate plant growth, but their excessive amounts in fruits can be harmful to health. Nitrates can accumulate in fruits and lead to food poisoning when consumed. Symptoms include headaches, nausea, diarrhea, and in severe cases, poisoning that requires medical intervention. Nitrates convert to nitrites in the body, disrupting hemoglobin function in the blood and negatively affecting the cardiovascular system and liver function. Additionally, continuous consumption of nitrates increases the risk of nitrosamines formation, which can lead to the development of cancer diseases. The conditions for storing and selling fruits are also important. Illegal trade cases are frequently encountered during control measures conducted by law enforcement agencies and sanitary-epidemiological service employees. One of the additional risk factors is the exposure of watermelons and melons lying on the ground in the sun at street trading points near highways. In such conditions, fruits absorb heavy metals from vehicle exhaust, and violations of sanitary regulations lead to the proliferation of microbes. Regional authorities are taking measures to prevent such illegal trade, but completely eliminating it is currently impossible. Experts advise consumers to wait for the start of the mass harvest season for watermelons and melons and to purchase products only from official farmers' markets or supermarkets, as well as to demand documents that certify product safety. The homeland of watermelon is the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. Wild ancestors of watermelon can still be found there. Although these wild fruits have a bitter taste, they are an important source of water for local tribes

A fraudster disguised as a "trustworthy person" has been caught
A fraudster who deceived a citizen dreaming of working abroad and embezzled a large sum of money has been apprehended in Jizzakh city. During a special operation conducted in cooperation with the city department of the Anti-Corruption Agency under the Prosecutor General's Office and the State Security Service, a previously convicted citizen N.B. was arrested. It has been revealed that he introduced himself as a "trustworthy person" and promised citizen Sh.K. that he would "send him to work in the United States through Mexico." Trusting him, the citizen handed over nearly 11,200 US dollars and 50 million soums to secure a high-paying job abroad. However, during the operation organized to expose the suspicious situation, N.B. was caught red-handed while receiving that very money with material evidence. Currently, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 168 (fraud) of the Criminal Code regarding this incident, and investigative actions have begun. Law enforcement agencies urge citizens to be vigilant in such situations and not to give large sums of money to individuals without any official guarantees and who are untrustworthy. What do you think about this issue? What measures could be effective?

How to protect the organism on the island?
How to protect the organism on the island?
It is expected that until May 16, the temperature in much of Uzbekistan will reach 42–43 degrees Celsius. In this regard, the Ministry of Health has provided some recommendations on how to protect the body from heat. Heat not only causes discomfort but also poses a serious health risk. In such weather conditions, the body's thermoregulation system is under significant stress, which can lead to the exacerbation of existing chronic diseases or the emergence of heat-related illnesses, including general weakness due to heat and life-threatening heat strokes. It is noted that high temperatures, especially, negatively affect the cardiovascular system, can accelerate heart rate and increase blood pressure. The body's attempt to maintain a normal temperature leads to excessive sweating, which increases the risk of dehydration. So, what precautions should be taken? Abduqayum To‘xtaqulov, head of the Environmental Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Health, answered this question in detail. During hot days, it is recommended to stay in closed buildings or cool places as much as possible from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, which is the hottest time of the day. During this time, the sun's rays are strongest, and the risk of overheating and sunstroke is high. If it is necessary to go outside, it is advisable to walk in shaded areas, use an umbrella, and plan activities for the cooler parts of the day – in the morning or evening. It is also important to ensure coolness at home. For example, keep windows on the sunny side closed during the day, open windows at night when the air cools down to ventilate the rooms, and limit the use of household appliances that generate heat, such as ovens, washing machines, and dryers during the hottest times of the day. Choosing the right clothing in the heat is crucial. It is recommended to wear light, loose-fitting clothes made from natural fabrics (cotton, silk) that allow good air circulation. Avoid clothing made from synthetic materials! Choosing light-colored clothing is advisable, as they reflect sunlight better. When going outside, wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses for sun protection. Protecting the head from sunlight is very important, as overheating of the brain can quickly lead to heat stroke. Taking cool showers or baths frequently throughout the day helps lower body temperature. Regular washing ensures effective skin respiration. However, avoid using very cold water, as sudden temperature changes can be stressful for the body and may even lead to pneumonia. Water at room temperature or slightly cool is the best option. Placing a wet towel or cloth on the skin, especially on the head and neck areas, is also an effective way to cool the body. Additionally, engaging in heavy physical labor or sports in the heat significantly increases the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and sunstroke. In such conditions, the load on the cardiovascular system increases, which can pose a risk of heart attack or stroke in unprepared individuals. If possible, it is preferable to engage in sports in air-conditioned indoor facilities. During workouts, it is essential to listen to the body, take breaks frequently, and drink enough fluids. If symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, or severe weakness occur, the workout should be stopped immediately. Individuals with chronic illnesses (hypertension, heart diseases, obesity) should consult a doctor before engaging in physical activities in the heat.

The price of paid services in state medical institutions may increase
According to a new joint resolution adopted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Health, significant changes have been made to the financing procedure of state treatment and prevention institutions providing paid medical services. Now, according to the new procedure, it has been established that the profitability rate set in relation to the cost price when determining the price of paid medical services should not exceed 20 percent. According to the previous procedure, this indicator should not exceed 25 percent of the service cost determined by budget funds for the same medical service. Economic expert Otabek Bakirov emphasizes on his social media page that this change may lead to a significant increase in payments for paid services in state medical institutions . According to Bakirov's calculations, this decision is likely to cause service prices to increase by up to 4.8 times. According to the economist's explanation, under the previous procedure, for a medical service with a cost price of 100,000 soums, only an additional price of 25,000 soums could be charged. The new procedure allows the price of a service with a cost price of 100,000 soums to be up to 120,000 soums. This will lead to an increase in expenses for medical services. Experts are expressing concerns that this change may affect citizens' access to paid services in state medical institutions. At the same time, it is also anticipated that the new procedure may help improve the quality of services in state hospitals and enhance the economic stability of the institutions.
