
Italy's 2008 Olympic champion in race walking, 40-year-old Aleks Shvatsyer has joined the ranks of consultants for the "Zuytdirol" club participating in the Italian Serie B league. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
This club is from the autonomous region of South Tyrol, where many Austrians live, and has big plans for the higher league. The club's sports director Paolo Bravo emphasized that Aleks was invited due to his hard work and passion for sports.
Aleks Shvatsyer is also from South Tyrol and won the Olympic gold medal in Beijing in 2008. However, his career was later overshadowed by a doping-related controversy.
