The Russian Ministry of Sports plans to tighten the restrictions on the number of legionnaires starting from the next season. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Famous coach Sergey Tashuev does not support such a decision. In his opinion, such restrictions will not yield positive results, especially in the context of Russia's isolation in international football.
Tashuev states that the closure within the team will increase, and the restrictions will only worsen the situation. He believes that it is necessary to abandon artificial measures and seek ways to increase the number of strong players.
The coach suggests not changing the limit on the number of legionnaires until the restrictions imposed on the Russian Football Union by UEFA and FIFA are lifted. After that, the situation should be monitored.
Currently, the number of legionnaires in the Russian Premier League teams is set according to the "13+8" formula: 13 legionnaires can be included in the season application, and a maximum of 8 legionnaires must be on the field at the same time. According to media reports, the Ministry of Sports supports the "10+5" formula.
This means further reduction in the number of legionnaires. Time will show how such changes will affect the development of football.
