Czech specialist Vlastimil Petrjela, who previously managed the Zenit team in St. Petersburg, expressed critical views about the foreign players of the team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, the significance of the academy intended for young players is diminishing due to the large number of legionnaires in Zenit. Petrjela emphasized the need to trust young players so that they respond with loyalty to the team.
He also recalled that he never feared trusting young Russian players in his time. This, however, brought him closer to the risk of losing his job.
Currently, there are 14 legionnaires on the Zenit team roster, not including the naturalized Santos and Kazakh Alip. This exceeds the official limits.
It is currently unknown which players will be removed from the roster. Reducing the number of legionnaires is considered an important issue for the team.
