Former Russian Premier League referee Igor Fedotov shared new thoughts on the controversial situation that occurred at the beginning of the match between Spartak and Baltika. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, Anton Zabolotniy received a red card from Sergey Karasyov after the intervention of the VAR system for a foul. Fedotov expressed surprise that, despite Karasyov's high qualifications, he initially did not see the situation fully.
Additionally, it is possible that the assistant referee was also unable to assess the situation correctly. Fedotov maintained his opinion that Zabolotniy should have only received a yellow card.
At the same time, he expects the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union to support Karasyov. For reference, the Spartak team lost to Baltika 0:3 at home.
