The goalkeeper coach of the Russian national team, Vitaliy Kafanov, responded to the question of whether the new head coach Valeriy Karpin could replace goalkeeper Andrey Lunev from the "Dinamo" team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, Andrey gained significant experience in starting attacks from the goal while playing for the German team "Bayer." Kafanov stated that Lunev currently just needs time to adapt to Valeriy Georgievich's requirements.
For reference, 33-year-old Andrey Lunev transferred to the "Dinamo" team in the summer of 2024. He has played in two matches in the Russian Premier League this new season and conceded only one goal.
The Russian goalkeeper's employment contract with the Moscow club is valid until the middle of next year. Therefore, for now, Lunev will continue to play in the starting lineup, and the coaches are satisfied with his performance.
