Famous former football player Dmitriy Radchenko compared the popularity of the “Spartak” and “Zenit” teams. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, in the past, “Spartak” was undoubtedly the most popular club. Even now, Radchenko believes that the “red-whites” are slightly ahead of “Zenit”.
He discussed this in an interview with Sport-Ekspress. The expert emphasized that the popularity of the capital club is mainly related to “Spartak” being a leader in the former Soviet Union and later in the Russian championships.
Currently, “Zenit” has only started to be recognized as a strong team since the mid-1980s. In the next round, the “red-whites” will face “Akron” away.
Meanwhile, “Zenit” will host Moscow's CSKA at home. Both matches will take place on Sunday.
