Macron: Europe should not remain just a market

French President Emmanuel Macron made an important statement about the future of Europe. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He emphasized that the continent should no longer remain just a "large market," but rather become a power capable of making independent decisions and relying on its own economic strength. According to him, this is not another temporary process, but the beginning of a new era.
Macron stated that the problems Europe is facing are not short-term but represent a phase of long-lasting changes. The reliance on Russia's cheap energy has ended, and "going back" in this direction is impossible.
Adapting to the new energy order is now necessary. The president also drew attention to the economic policies of the US and China.
He emphasized that the US is changing the rules of the game through customs regulations and economic pressure, while China has chosen its path as an authoritarian system. Now Europe must also learn to firmly defend its own interests.
Macron highlighted that rising energy prices and increased carbon costs could pose a serious threat to industrial development. If factories reduce their activities due to economic pressure, this will lead to negative consequences for the continent.
The president also mentioned that in some cases Europe might be forced to make decisions that do not align with its traditions. Such decisions should not be seen as abandoning values but rather as a strategy to adapt to new conditions.
Macron portrayed the European Union as a space that upholds the rule of law and stability. He stressed that it is time for Europe to awaken in order to hold a strong position in the geoeconomic arena.
Now the continent must act not only as a market but also as an important force in the global economy.
