Barcelona football club's sports director Deco will hold an important meeting with goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen on Tuesday. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The German player recently underwent surgery due to issues with his back. It may take four months or more for him to fully recover.
Barcelona plans to send a medical report to La Liga officials regarding Ter Stegen's inability to play for an extended period. If this report is confirmed, the club may use part of Ter Stegen's salary to register another player, namely Joan Garcia.
However, to send such a medical report, an agreement with Ter Stegen himself is required. Previously, the player had expressed hope that he would recover within three months.
This has posed certain difficulties for Barcelona's plans. If Ter Stegen's injury is not officially deemed long-term, it will be complicated for the club to register Joan Garcia.
The upcoming meeting is intended to resolve this issue. Additionally, Barcelona aims to improve relations with Ter Stegen.
The club expresses its readiness to assist him in finding a new team in January, and also states that if Marc-André wishes to stay at the club, it is prepared to fully honor his contract. Earlier, Barcelona's head coach Hans-Dieter Flick had spoken with Ter Stegen and informed him that he would not be playing as the main goalkeeper in the new season.
